Science Journal or Marketing Journal

grace-and-andy-017Is a journal claiming certain products have solid science backing them up, a science journal or a marketing journal?  Marketing journals are also called Advertising journals.

Is there a difference between a science journal and a marketing journal?

When a company recites references that show an ingredient in their product has a certain desired effect, they may be using “borrowed science.”

They have not actually done any clinical research on their own particular product.  Instead they use the clinical research of others.

They “hire” an advertising journal or marketing journal that appears to be a science journal to promote their product.  Distributors use these journals to sell the products.

A science journal, also called a medical journal, publishes articles based on clinical research that has been reviewed by a third party or peer reviewed.

Articles accepted for publication in science journals or medical journals are the ultimate in the world of scientific proof.

When a company says their study has been published, don’t take their word for it.  For a price, there are marketing journals that will print anything a company submits.

You can find out if a journal is a legitimate science journal simply by going online to the National Library of Medicine.  It keeps a database of all science journals in the medical area called PubMed.

If you cannot find the name of the journal, it is probably a marketing or advertising journal.
