Book Review: Launching A Leadership Revolution

Launching A Leadership Revolution by Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward is a wonderful book on leadership.  It was enjoyable to read giving examples of dynamic leaders of history.

Leaders like Winston Churchill, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Theodore Roosevelt.

Sprinkled throughout the book are inspirational stories to illustrate the subject.

John Maxwell is quoted from his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership:

“Leadership is influence—nothing more, nothing less.  People have so many misconceptions about leadership.  When they hear that someone has an impressive title or an assigned leadership position, they assume that he is a leader.  Sometimes that’s true.  But titles don’t have much value when it comes to leading.  True leadership cannot be awarded, appointed, or assigned.  It comes only from influence, and that can’t be mandated.  It must be earned.”

There are five levels of influence.

First: LEARN.  A leader will learn from everyone and anyone.

Second: PERFORM. To find success, the leader will persevere through failure.

Third: LEAD. By expanding their team, a leader will extend their abilities.

Fourth:  DEVEOP LEADERS.  A leader will trust their people.

Fifth: DEVELOP LEADERS WHO DEVELOP LEADERS.  A leader will create a legacy.

These are time tested essential levels of influence.  Get the book, read it, unlock the leader within you.  A great read and guide to leadership.
